The Association represents hospitals before the Louisiana Supreme Court, state courts and in federal district courts. Briefs have been filed on malpractice and other tort issues.
 

This department also assists members through consultation on legal issues ranging from public hospital laws, patient care, Stark II, OIG guidance, to hospital/physician relations. This includes assisting members in analyzing legal questions, researching specific issues and preparing them to work with their own legal counsel to resolve issues. This department also provides legal support to the LHA and its affiliated organizations.

The legal department oversees a monthly newsletter that analyzes legal developments and trends of interest to the hospital community written by members of the Louisiana Society of Hospital Attorneys.

The Society sponsors the annual Health Law Symposium, offering continuing education opportunities to healthcare attorneys on the latest legal issues with the most up-to-date information.
